About the Campaign

I VOTE BECAUSE.... IS A NON-PARTISAN CAMPAIGN TO REGISTER VOTERS and GET OUT THE VOTE IN 2018

Voter turnout is grim: more than 200 million Americans were eligible to vote in 2016 but only 59% made it to the polls.  The 2014 midterm election registered historically low turnout at just 37%. For democracy to thrive, we the people need to exercise our right to vote and make our voices heard.

To promote voter registration and voter turnout in communities with historically low numbers, portraits of everyday citizens and their “I Vote Because…” quotes are on  over 15 billboards, 25 bus, in houses of worship, schools, and community centers.

It's important for every American to vote. I Vote Because...efforts are focused on areas where people in both parties feel their votes are most pivotal in 2018--in the most competitive congressional districts that will determine control of the House of Representatives. Outdoor advertising and social  media I Vote Because ....campaigns are in six cities and counties with competitive Senate campaigns. We  encourage people who live those districts and states to spread the news.
